Chain of the Saint-Sebastian guild of Herenthout, Guild chain of Reynegom

1740 - 1740

Great emphasis was placed on entertainment and enjoyment in the guild system. The annual bird-shooting competition was a favourite event. The winner was crowned king of the guild and donned the chain from which he hung a silver shield bearing his name and the year. This chain is fairly unique because the complete piece was made at the same time, probably because the previous chain was beyond repair.
