Bracelet Modular

Salima Thakker never makes design sketches: she works directly from the material, always looking for more exciting shapes, better connections and more sophisticated closures. Modular began with a fascination for reptile skin. Mokumé turned out to be the technique that enabled Thakker to translate the drawing of that skin into precious metals. Later, the need arose to go beyond this graphic, two-dimensional technique. Her fascination shifted from the surface of the skin to its structure; from graphic to tactile, from 2 to 3 dimensions. By linking more or less wedge-shaped spatial elements, she created mobility and the suggestion of scales and spines.
