As inscription a letter I (?) and the monogram SP (?). The Bijloke Museum in Ghent has a pen and inkt drawing of a similar sauce boat. The drawing, dating from 1757, served as the model for a masterpiece by the Ghent silversmith Jan Baptist Macharius Pauwels. Almost identical sauceboats by the Ghent silversmith J. G. Bourgeois dating from 1769 were auctioned at Sotheby's, Geneva, 18.05.1992.
