Cartier Parijs

Founded by Louis-François Cartier (1819 - 1904) in 1847 on rue Montorgueil, Paris. Few jewels of the young jeweler are known. In 1853, Cartier moved his studio to rue Neuve-des-Petits-Champs no. 5. He was soon noticed by Princess Mathilde and in 1859 he received his first order from Empress Eugenia de Montijo, for whom he would later make many services. Over the years he moved to boulevard des Italiens, nr 9. In 1874 his son Alfred (1841 - 1925) took over the company and his sons, Louis (1875 - 1942) and Jacques (1884 - 1942) Cartier, delivered the name Cartier world fame. Louis moved the Paris store to the Rue de la Paix in 1899. They marketed several clocks, timepieces, and innovative jewelry. An extension was added in 1909 with a boutique in New York, and stores in London and Saint Petersburg soon followed. After the death of Pierre Cartier in 1964, the company was sold to investors. In the further course of the 20th century, the brand worked with personalities and brands such as Karl Lagerfeld and Hackett. In 2012, Cartier was sold to Richemont Holding. The brand is loved to this day.
