Robert, Bénard

French, 18th century. Active in Paris in 1734. Engraver. He worked in the book trade, most notably on Encyclopédie de Diderot (Diderot’s Encyclopedia). He is also known for two plates for an opera house project and The Flemish Philosopher, after David Teniers. Emmanuel Bénézit, Dictionary of artists, Vol. 2 (Parijs: Gründ, 2006), 134.
