Dutalis, Joseph Germain

Brussels silversmith. Joseph Germain or Jozef Germanus Dutalis was born in Brussels in 1780. He was the son of Brussels goldsmith and silversmith Peter Gabriël Germanus Dutalis (+ 1814) . His father came from Bergen (Mons). From 1791 he became his father's pupil. In 1812 he was still registered as a bachelor and in 1816 as a married man. His maker's mark first appeared on the registration plates of the Holland rule (1814-1831). Sometimes he signed his works in full. He died in 1852.
