Denys, Charles

Silversmith from Mechelen (Malines). Charles Denys was born in Menen (Menin) c. 1730-1731. In 1762 he obtained in Mechelen the title of master with dispensation from schoolyears. As from 1787 he trained Jacobus Josephus Carolus Vermeulen as a silversmith. His widow, Catharina-Paula Smets (+ 1803) continued the workshop after his death in 1793.
