De Wilde, Mies

Belgian goldsmith and silversmith. Mies De Wilde was born in Essen on the 10th of April 1932. After his training in the goldsmith and silversmith arts and decorative arts at the Technische Kunstambachtschool in the Londenstraat in Antwerp, « Art et Métier » and the Sint-Lucasschool in Brussels he set up his workshop in Groot-Bijgaarden c. 1960. He became widely known as a jewellery designer after his participation in the house of the province of Antwerp at the Expo '58 in Brussels.
