Gevaerts, Joannes Norbertus

Silversmith Joannes Norbertus Gevaerts, born in 1698, is the son of Adrianus Gevaerts and Catharina van Bombergen. In 1726 he married Anna Catharina de Pester. On the basis of an archival document, the makers mark with the initials IG with a heart in between, previously attributed to Joannes Franciscus I Goubou (1690-1743), can be identified as his mark. Well-known works with this mark are dated between 1726 and 1742.
