Michiel de Grave is a Ghent silversmith. In 1733, when he was about 20, he was apprenticed to Joannes Smidts. On 19 July 1738, he became a master. By 1770, he was living near the Sint-Jorishof. In 1777 still mentioned in Ghent almanac as gold- and silversmith by S. Joris hof. In 1782 he no longer appears in the list of silversmiths.
