van der Borcht, Josephus Franciscus

Antwerp silversmith. Born in Brussels as the son of Joseph van der Borcht. In 1730 he became an apprentice of Joannes Philippus van den Brande. As master silversmith he became a burgher in Antwerp in 1749. He married Angela van Waerbeeck, who ran a shop of fancy goods. He was co-dean in 1749 and dean in 1750. He died in 1775. His widow continued the workshop until her death in 1785.
