Medaillon with star design, Portrait pendant

Here the link with the star-spangled sky is both literal and figurative. The front of the medallion is decorated with a star motif. When opened, the medallion reveals a miniature portrait or photograph of the lover. So it was always worn close to the heart and can be seen as a star in the life of its owner.
