Publicity material of silversmith Miele & C°

1906

Miele & C° had many branches in Belgium, including Antwerp (Schoenmarkt), Brussels, Ghent and Liège, as well as abroad, in Paris and Lyon, Amsterdam and Rotterdam, and Madrid. The company produced mainly tableware in silver-plated metal and 'vieux cuivre'. We gather from the firm's publicity material that it was certainly active between 1894 and 1912. Interestingly, the printed matter is usually very carefully designed art nouveau, sometimes signed by the Brussels artist and poster designer Privat Livemont (1861-1936), the artist from Lier Jan van Beers (1852-1927) and Charles Michel (° 1874) from Liège. This advertisement is signed on the left on the cupboard, though the signature is illegible.
