Burgundy wine bottle of the Société de Dison
1826 - 1858
Particularly worthy of note is the very high kick from which this type of bottle derived its name of 'bouteille voleuse' in the Liège region. By way of comparison, see W. Van den Bossche, Antique Glass Bottles, Woodbridge 2001, ill. 129. The shoulder is stamped with a round glass seal 'SOCIÉTÉ DE DISON'. (Dison is a municipality near Verviers.) The Société de Dison was founded in 1826, had 18 members and was wound up around 1858.
