This famille verte vase is decorated with symbols of the 'eight treasures' (pa pao). Mount K'un-lun, symbol of the earth's core, is depicted four times, i.e. in the four corners of the world. Some Chinese products that were shipped to Europe were adapted to European taste by adding a gilded bronze finish.
