DIVA talk: The Jeweller’s Art

On the occasion of the exhibition The Jeweller's Art, DIVA organises an online talk on 25th of February.  Curator Catherine Regout will have a conversation with collector Kimberly Klosterman and jewellery designer Lisa Eisner about jewellery from the sixties and seventies. What makes these jewels and their designers so special? Who wore and collected these statement pieces? And what do Queen Elizabeth, Andy Warhol and Jackie Kennedy have in common?

Expect more information about the exhibition, the jewels on display and the inspiration of these works of art on contemporary jewellery designers.

Thorough research and publication preceded this travelling exhibition. Cynthia Amnéus, curator of the Cincinnati Art Museum, and Kimberly Klosterman talk about the discoveries during the research.

Currently, over one hundred of her jewels are on display in The Jeweller's Art exhibition. Lisa Eisner lives in Los Angeles in the United States and is a jewellery designer. Nature, whimsical shapes and large stones are a major source of inspiration – comparable to most jewellery designers of the 60s and 70s. Lisa is also influenced by the American West—whether it’s turquoise that comes from a long-since closed mine in Arizona, the inky black jade of her home state of Wyoming, or a strange fossilized specimen from an old rock hound—each stone is hand selected and then set in bronze or gold. Her jewellery can be seen as a statement and is characterised by colour, (large) size and each piece is unique. Instagram: @lisaeisnerjewelry
