Drawing Diamonds

The historical art of painting jewellery in gouache is a process that requires precision and creativity. Every drawing of a jewel is a mini masterpiece, a desirable artwork, and consequently an art form treasured by historical houses as an important part of their heritage.

This workshop is an introduction to varieties of gemstone cuts and to the traditional jewellery painting technique using white gouache to capture diamond’s highlights on paper.

2 days (4 hours a day)

Day 1

Introduction to diamond cuts varieties, light theory and how to draw a round cut diamond, the use of gouache paints and a lot of practice with individual feedback.

Day 2 

Introduction to light in the gemstone compositions and reviewing some inspiring examples. Working on your drawing and sharing the results and accomplishments. 

Who is it for?

Both beginners and professionals are welcome to attend. No prior knowledge is required. This workshop is given in English.

Workshop Tutor

Inesa Kovalova is an international jewellery designer with extensive experience in drawing.

Inesa is a graduate of Central Saint Martins and Creative Academy - private design school by Richemont group in Milan. There she worked on projects for Richemont brands such as Van Cleef and Arpels, Vacheron Constantine, Roger Dubuis and others, followed by an internship in Van Cleef and Arpels design department in Paris. 

Combining her drawing skills with extensive practical experience in the industry she worked out the series of jewellery drawing programs for jewellery designers and lovers. Since 2016 she has been teaching around the globe. For her masterclasses she collaborated with different art and design institutions, including Victoria and Albert museum in London.

In case of cancelation

Do you see yourself forced to cancel your workshop? Up to a week (7 working days) before the start of the workshop you pay €50 in administration costs. If you cancel less than a week before the start date of the workshop, you owe the full amount. You can always propose a substitute. The organizer reserves the right to cancel the workshop if there are too few (paying) registrations. The organizer may cancel or stop the activity due to bad weather, earthquakes, accidents, riots, strikes, pandemics or other public health emergencies of national and international concern or other similar acts, defined as force majeure. Then you will be refunded the full amount.
