Hammertime!

During this open atelier you will have the opportunity to increase your knowledge and work on your own design: a silver bowl, box, jug, candlestick, an abstract object, ... . Everything depends on your creativity. The choice is yours! Pick up the hammer and go home with your own creation. The focus is on both small and larger silver objects.

The open studio starts on day one with a discussion of your design that you have already prepared at home. Based on your design(s), we ensure that the right tools and stakes are available in the workshop. Then you will spend six days working on the elaboration of your design.

Silver is not provided by DIVA as each design is different. Each participant provides his own silver. If necessary, DIVA can advise and/or refer you on the purchase of your silver prior to the open studio. DIVA has a small stock of silver that can be purchased for your design if necessary. You can also work with copper.

For whom?

This open atelier is suitable for participants with prior knowledge and experience. Sawing, filing, sanding, polishing, folding and forging are techniques you're familiar with.

By whom?

Silversmith Max Gielis guides participants from concept to finished object, within the time span of the open atelier. A combination of demonstrations, one-on-one guidance and creative problem-solving are the ingredients of the open workshop.

Max Gielis studied silversmithing at Sint-Lucas Antwerp, is a teacher at the RHoK Academy in Brussels and worked as an independent silversmith, among others, on assignment for Gijs Bakker, Koen Wijngaerden and studio Lachaert D'Hanis.

When?

Saturday 6th of July to Sunday 8th of July 2022. Each day from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm.

Where?

DIVA Atelier, Kaasstraat 7, 2000 Antwerp. 

Price?

€560 for seven days. The silver is not included and will not be provided by DIVA.

Disclaimer

The workshop will accommodate a maximum of six participants. The organizer reserves the right to cancel a workshop in the event of insufficient (paying) registrations or force majeure. In this case the full amount will be refunded.

Are you forced to cancel your workshop yourself? Up to two weeks (14 days) before the start of the workshop you'll pay €50 administration costs. If you cancel less than two weeks beforehand, you'll have to pay the full amount. You can always propose a substitute to take your spot.
