Plaquette 'The Judgement of Paris'
1650 - 1700
The plaque may have decorated an Antwerp cabinet. b: Paris, who is sitting on a rock, gives the apple to Venus. Next to her is Amor and behind her the helmeted Minerva and Juno with the peacock. Mercury is walking away in the background. A very similar silver plaque featuring the same scene decorates the left-hand door of the Montmore Cabinet in the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
